Existence Doubtful

Within the frame of two journeys to Antarctica, Southern Ocean and Tierra del Fuego, this book surveys that which evades verification. Legends, phantom islands and doubtful facts are all material to this project. And so are the Yahgan Indians, the southernmost inhabitants of our planet who once traveled the windswept and hard to reach islands at the far side of the Americas. According to the author’s hypothesis those natives, who had no social structure, religion, hierarchy nor possessions, were the freest of all the people, while the historical encounter with the Westerners made them appear as the lowest of all humans.
